Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), a naturally occurring compound, helps your body produce more NAD+, particularly as you age. Consequently, NMN supplements have gained attention as a means to enhance wellness and promote healthy aging.

Benefits of NMN: What is NMN Good For?

When you take NMN, your body converts this nucleotide into NAD+. Research has indicated that providing your body with the necessary building blocks to produce more NAD+ can yield significant benefits due to higher NAD+ levels.

In contrast, studies have not yet demonstrated that taking NAD+ directly affects your body’s NAD+ levels effectively. This suggests that NMN might be more beneficial than direct NAD+ supplementation.

Improved Immune Function

As a precursor for NAD+, NMN supplements may enhance the function of macrophages (a type of white blood cell) and bolster your immune system, particularly in older age.3

Maintain Healthy Blood Sugar Levels

In the first clinical trial of its kind, researchers found that NMN supplements could improve insulin efficiency and support healthier blood glucose levels.4

Enhanced Muscle Strength

After age 30, muscle mass decreases by up to 8% each decade.5 By boosting NAD+ levels, NMN may improve muscle mass and strength6— not only keeping you active as you age but also reducing risks related to muscle weakness such as shaky balance or a higher risk of falls.

Better Overall Wellness and Healthier Aging

Since NAD+ is essential for DNA repair and the functioning of all body cells,1 NMN's ability to support healthy NAD+ levels could lead to improvements in nearly every aspect of health and wellness, particularly in aging.

Possible Side Effects of NMN: What is the Risk of Taking NMN?

Most studies on NMN and NAD+ precursors have not shown any significant side effects6, although ongoing research continues to fully establish its safety profile.

Who Should Avoid Taking NMN?

If you are pregnant or have a pre-existing health condition, always consult with your doctor before adding a new supplement to your regimen.

What Other Risks May Be Associated with NMN Supplements?

While NMN supplements are generally considered safe7, some individuals may experience mild symptoms similar to those from other dietary supplements, such as:

Cramping or abdominal pain

Diarrhea or loose stools

Gas and bloating

Some NMN supplements may also contain additional ingredients, such as resveratrol (from grapes) or troxerutin (from buckwheat), to enhance NMN's efficacy. Always carefully check the ingredients label on any supplement you take to ensure that secondary ingredients do not interact with other supplements or medications you are taking.

NMN Dosage

Every clinical study on NMN has utilized different dosages, ranging from 250 mg to over 1,250 mg per day.8 For general health and well-being, most studies have used the lower range, while research involving athletes and highly active individuals has used the higher range. The best NMN supplements are designed to meet the needs of a broad audience — you can adjust your dosage based on your specific requirements.

If you have specific concerns, your doctor can recommend the appropriate dosage based on your age, lifestyle, and health needs.

How Can I Increase My NMN?

Taking an NMN supplement is the most effective way to quickly boost your NMN levels and support healthy NAD+ production. Although NMN is also present in trace amounts in foods such as:9, 10

Avocado

Broccoli

Cabbage

Cucumber

Edamame (soybeans)

Tomatoes

However, you would need to consume a large quantity of these foods to obtain a significant amount of NMN, which is why supplements are so beneficial. For example, tomatoes contain only 0.26-0.30 mg of NMN per 100 grams,10 meaning you would need to eat over 96.2 kg (212 pounds) of tomatoes daily to get 250 mg of NMN.

Who Can Benefit from Taking NMN?

NMN is often regarded as an anti-aging supplement, but its benefits extend beyond middle-aged and older adults. Research indicates that NAD+ levels start to decline in early adulthood.11 Since NAD+ (and therefore NMN) is crucial for basic cellular function, including immune system support, it may be beneficial if you are seeking enhanced energy, improved aging, better strength, a stronger immune system, and an overall increase in vitality.

Get Started with the Best NMN Supplements Today

Our best-selling NMN supplements are sourced from 98% pure nicotinamide mononucleotide. With a single dose of 300 mg, you can experience the health-boosting benefits of NMN quickly and effectively.

You be well, now.

BubbForest

*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. We all have those days. While fluctuating moods and feelings are normal, it can be problematic when you have more “blah” days than happy or productive ones.

The restorative power of nutrition can be a helpful component in your quest towards emotional wellness. What are some ways you can become master over your mind so that mood changes don’t dictate your day?

1. Exercise

The benefits of exercise have been proven in countless studies. But when it comes to improving mental health and balancing moods, you almost don’t need science to tell you how beneficial exercise is for you. Close your eyes and recall how you felt after that long run or swim. Feel the exhilaration? Physical exercise releases endorphins (feel-good hormones) that do you a world of good. Besides, exercise helps keep you healthier, and when you feel better, you do better.1

2. Proper Nutrition

It’s not that we really think a pound of jelly beans can fix problems, but sometimes it’s easier to eat just one more piece than tackle life’s curveballs. Except that when you’re done with the junk, those problems will still stare you in the face and you won’t have the energy to deal with them.

It’s much better to focus on eating properly and maintaining a balanced diet (you can still sneak in a jelly bean or two along the way). Dr. Eva Selhub compares the brain to an expensive car that functions best on premium fuel.2

In this case, premium fuel refers to the high-quality food choices you make. That means consuming plenty of fruits and veggies, lean meats, low-fat dairy proteins, and unprocessed whole grains. Avoid refined sugars and processed foods as they can make it more difficult to balance your mood.

3. Nutritional Support

Sometimes it becomes difficult to remain hyper-focused on dietary intake. That’s why it can be beneficial to take supplements that help fill nutritional gaps in your diet. When you’re working on balancing mood and stress, look for these ingredients:

Vitamin B6, B12, Folate

B vitamins have long been known for their brain-balancing abilities.3

DMAE

DMAE helps produce acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter, and can play a key role in brain functions like learning and memory.4

GABA

GABA can promote a sense of relaxation, improve mood and increase a sense of wellbeing.5

5-HTP

5-HTP is a byproduct of L-tryptophan and can be produced from the Griffonia simplicifolia plant. It is often used as a mood booster by building up serotonin levels.6

Ashwagandha Leaf

Ashwagandha leaf has many health benefits including reducing levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. It may also help support a positive outlook on life.7

4. Regular Sleep Routine

Being in a bad mood is tiring even if the bad mood causes you to do nothing. Unfortunately, sleeping all day to make up for sleep you lost at night doesn’t tend to work. Instead, try to go to bed at about the same time each night and aim to get eight hours of sleep if possible. Get up on time, even on the weekend. Since you might be in a better mood, you’ll want to get up and get started on your weekend plans anyway.8

It can also be helpful to take a 20-minute power nap during the day, although not too close to bedtime. Recharging in the middle of the day can help keep your engine going until bedtime, just remember to keep the nap short. A long snooze during daylight can disrupt your nighttime routine.

5. Spend Quality Time with Family & Friends

Being with the people you love can actually make your body produce more of the hormones you need to feel better. While you’re at it, play a game or watch something funny together. These positive activities can get you double benefits at the same time.

Friends and loved ones can also listen to you talk about your difficulties. They can offer advice, but even the listening ear they lend can help you feel better and sort out your emotions. Carve out time in your schedule for dates with your friends and other significant people in your life.9

6. Spend Quality Time Alone

Sometimes, you are your own best friend. While socializing is important, it’s also good to take some time for yourself. Engage in self-care and self-love. Take a walk by yourself. Listen to your heartbeat. Light a candle and read a book. Get some essential oils and make your space smell good. You’re worth it!

7. Keep a Journal

Writing down your thoughts and emotions is a powerful way to sort through them and can be very therapeutic.10 In addition, looking back at your journal can help you spot patterns and triggers. Once you see what sets you off, you can figure out how to fix it.

The interesting thing about mood changes is that inasmuch as they belong to the field of psychology and mental health, they are often rooted in your physical state of health. The seven tips above can be helpful on a physical and emotional level and help you achieve your goal of balancing your mood.

Always serving our customers,

Your friends at BubbForest

*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Between monitoring spending, staying healthy, and navigating time spent with family, “ho ho ho” can easily become “no no no.”

These healthy hacks and nutrients may help you find a little more peace of mind to keep your holiday season merry and bright.

Rock Around the Christmas Tree

Whether it’s dancing, a walk around the neighborhood, or even getting a quick workout in, squeezing some physical activity into your day is a fun and healthy way to relieve stress. Exercise helps your body produce more neurotransmitters called endorphins, which promote a positive attitude.1

Not only does moving more physiologically help you reduce stress, but it can also simply take your mind off things for a bit. Along with a mood boost, regular exercise can also support immune function—a win-win situation.2

Loosen Up

If you’re feeling tense emotionally, chances are your muscles and joints may feel the same way. Try a relaxing warm bath or hot shower, or even try a hot compress on your neck, shoulders, or wherever you may "hold" your stress.

You can also try progressive muscle relaxation and pair this practice with some mood and joint support for some added wellness benefits. Yoga is another method to gain some flexibility while stretching out trouble areas. A little less stress on the joints may go a long way for the mind and overall stress levels.3

Try Aromatherapy

Many of us have holiday traditions or memories that just feel like home. Most of the time those memories can be triggered by familiar scents which may help calm the mind. Whether it’s home-baked goods that make your space smell like home or diffusing some of your favorite essential oils, aromatherapy may help you feel more at home and at ease.

Make Self-Care a Priority

It’s usually tradition to give back regardless of which holiday you celebrate but be sure to also do something nice for yourself. If you need a break from the crowd, take a 15-minute break and find a quiet spot to collect your thoughts.

Take opportunities to buy yourself something you enjoy or pair a mood-booster with a spa day or meditation session. If you’ve been doing holiday shopping and just feel drained, nourish and replenish your body with B vitamins and try recharging with a 20-minute nap. Checking in with yourself and taking some “me time” is just as important as giving back to others.

Throw the Ball or Get Creative

Spending time with a furry friend is both an enjoyable and rewarding way to promote emotional wellbeing, plus who doesn’t love a game of fetch? Animals have been human companions for centuries, and the reason why makes sense. Animals just help us feel better, even to the point where facilities offer canine or equine therapy for improving mental health and stress relief.4

If you don’t own a pet, you can always try new hobbies or do something that helps you find your center. Some love fishing, others like to read—whatever your preference, do what makes you feel calm. Adult coloring books are one of the easiest ways to slow down and decrease stress levels, especially patterns like a mandala.5 For an extra-festive touch, throw on some of your favorite holiday tunes or light a candle for some hygge ambiance.

If you liked this article, you may also enjoy What Magnesium Supplement is Right for You, or this Intro to Meditation.
